If you’re passionate about supporting women in technology, we want you to join us!

Chic Geek is accepting applications from inclusive and growth-oriented leaders to join our volunteer Board of Directors. The overall goal of the Chic Geek Board of Directors is to ensure the success and viability of the Chic Geek Society community and to support the Executive Director in innovating and sustaining the organization’s strategic roadmap.

In the spirit of inclusion and equity, we actively welcome applications from marginalized individuals. Even if you feel you do not meet all of the criteria or experience listed, we encourage you to apply!

ABOUT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chic Geek’s board of directors is comprised of at least five members and no more than nine members. We are a governance and policy board. Board directors are elected for three year terms and four of our current director terms are ending in 2023. The overall goal of the Chic Geek Board of Directors is to ensure the success and viability of the Chic Geek Society community and to support the Executive Director in innovating and sustaining the organization’s strategic roadmap.

The Chic Geek board has four director positions becoming available, as well as officer roles of chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary officer roles. In the spirit of inclusion and equity, we actively welcome applications from marginalized individuals. Even if you feel you do not meet all of the criteria or experience listed, we encourage you to apply!

Board directors are expected to share Chic Geek’s vision and promote the best interests of the society in all of their activities acting in their capacity as a director. They have overall fiscal and management oversight responsibility for the society, and have fiduciary duties under the Societies Act of Alberta. These duties are outlined in more detail in Chic Geek’s by-laws. Chic Geek board directors execute their responsibilities through regular board meetings and on board committees. The board is accountable for hiring one individual – the Executive Director of the Society – who in turn is accountable for managing the society’s day to day affairs. The Executive Director serves as a non-voting member of the board.
